GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Hijrah Walk refers to the historic migration of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions from Makkah to Madinah in 622 CE, marking the beginning of the Islamic calendar. This journey symbolises the move from hardship to community building, sacrifice, reliance on Allah, and resilience — lessons that participants are invited to embody on this walk.
This version of the Hijrah Walk is offered in partnership with Revive Darul Arqam and guided by Shaykh Abdallah Alkadi, a globally recognised expert in the Hijrah route and Prophetic biography.
Participants will walk historically authentic paths — over roughly 450 km (280 miles) — using GPS research and documented landmarks from the Prophet’s ﷺ migration.
This edition of the Hijrah Walk is not just a journey — it’s a legacy project: participants commit to raising funds for humanitarian work with Revive Darul Arqam, ensuring the impact of the retreat reaches beyond the route itself. Guided by expert Seerah teachers and seasoned route researchers, walkers experience the Hijrah in a way that’s both educational and soul-deepening, connecting tradition with personal transformation.
This is a fully in-person, immersive retreat: physically walking in the desert each day, guided spiritually and educationally to connect deeply with the legacy of the Hijrah.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Begins in Makkah, with preparatory reflection and context before departure.
- 6 days walking the historic Hijrah route through desert terrain, following the path taken by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Sayyidina Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه.
- Expert male & female guides accompany participants, offering spiritual insight and historical context based on decades of research.
- Participants will be shown actual locations of key moments, including where verses of the Qur’an were revealed and milestones in the migration occurred.
- The journey concludes in Madinah, providing time for reflection in the city of the Prophet ﷺ and meaningful connection to the end of the Hijrah.
